Trapped in the nervous desperation of Havana, Raul dreams of escaping to Miami. When accused of assault, his only option is to flee. He begs his best friend, Elio, to abandon everything and help him reach the forbidden land 90 miles across the ocean. Elio’s commitment is tested when he is torn between helping Raul escape and protecting his twin sister, Lila. Brimming with the energy of Havana’s restless youth in the crumbling sun-bleached capital, Una Noche follows one sweltering day, full of hope and fraught with tension, that burns to a shocking climax.

“Marked by a vibrant evocation of Havana street life and excellent performances from three non-pro naturals, Una noche throws off a restless energy well attuned to its tale of impetuous Cuban teens preparing to make the dangerous ocean journey to Florida.” – Justin Chang, Variety | Full review

“A compellingly credible portrayal of life in modern-day Havana.” – Dan Persons, Huffington Post | Full article and interview with Lucy Mulloy:

“The challenge is to pick the message out from the random nonsense that teens perpetrate daily, to pick out the desperation that is Cuba as compared to, say, the desperation that is James Dean in Rebel Without a Cause.”- Ron Wilkinson, Monsters and Critics | Full review

“Young British director Lucy Molloy’s Una noche is a striking first feature, impressive both in its narrative skills and its cinematography, in the vibrant but grim streets of Havana, where socialism has given way to an economy of subservience…”- Neil Young, Film Lounge, UK | Full review:

“Funny, heartfelt, naughty and nice…” – Gabe Toro, Indiewire | Full review

“Lucy Mulloy’s take on dilapidated Cuban life is unsentimental, gritty, and directly critical. Filmed in Havana (the film’s real star), Una Noche follows in the footsteps of such rough-edge neorealist films as Los Olvidados (1950), and turns suspenseful when the boys  set off for the U.S.” -  Kent Turner, Film Forward | Full review
