The Fluorescent Moon
Start Date: 10/17/2019Start Time: 11:15 AM
End Date: 10/17/2019End Time: 12:45 PM
Event Description:
Fluorescent Moon is an original theater piece by Antiheroes Project, a collective of Miami-based artists lead by individuals with and without disabilities, including theater artist Jose Manual Dominguez, a resident artist of En Residencia at the Koubek Center of the Miami Dade College in Little Havana. The piece comes from the personal narratives of artists - in this case, three blind Hispanic actors (Robert Perez, Danays Bautista, Emilio Bouza) and is based on their childhood experiences. The play reveals the ways in which a blind child learns, explores and interacts with the world in terms of sensorial discovery and perception. After several conversations and research, the team has found that the shapes, the limits of their outer world and the images that are elaborated by the brain of a blind person have rarely been translated into theatrical language. This makes Fluorescent Moon a unique and interactive opportunity for Miami's audience to learn how blind people see. (Presented in Spanish with English subtitles.) Stay for a 15-20 minute Q&A session after the presentation. Sponsored by MDC Live Arts Lab, the Koubek Center, and ACCESS Department.
