Event Description:

A Modern Odd Couple on a Visual Road Trip
FACES PLACES (VISAGES VILLAGES)

A film by Agnes Varda & JR
Cast: Agnes Varda, JR, Jean-Luc Godard, Laurent Levesque

France / 2017 / 89 min / Documentary / Not Rated
French with English Subtitles

3 lucky moviegoers at the 7:05pm screening this Friday October 20 will win a poster of the film signed by Agnes Varda! The first three moviegoers who present a piece of Agnes Varda memorabilia at the  box office (it could be a DVD or a book or even the poster of another Varda film), will win. The posters will be given out at the start of the 7:05 screening!

In her latest inquisitive and playful documentary, Agnes Varda joins co-director JR (the mysterious French street artist) aboard JR’s photo-truck—painted to resemble a giant camera—and travels from village to village, where they meet locals, talk to them about their lives and create immense portraits of them, which are mounted on buildings throughout their communities. Not unlike Varda’s first film,
La Pointe Courte, Faces Places pays homage to the vibrancy, diversity and dignity of life beyond the urban centers that typically dominate the big screen. Agnès Varda may now be one of our oldest filmmakers, but her work possesses a youthful vivacity unparalleled among her peers of any age. Vive la différence!
