End Date: 2/15/2020End Time: 6:00 PM
Event Description:

Miami Dade College's (MDC) Padrón Campus will host the second annual edition of the humanitarian assistance festival Venexodo 2020, an initiative designed to inform the community about the crisis in Venezuela and to raise funds for a series of organizations providing assistance to the South American country. The one-day event, which is free and open to the public, will be held Saturday, Feb. 15, at MDC's Koubek Center.

Festival goers will be able to view multiple artistic displays including art, poetry, photography, and short stories donated by local organizations and community partners. Additionally, Venexodo 2020 will launch ¨What´s your story," a social experiment emphasizing human empathy. Funds will be raised through the sale of Bracelets for Esperanza, (Hope Bracelets) as well as food and refreshments.

Proceeds from the event will go to the following humanitarian-aid organizations Ayuda Humanitaria Venezuela; Fundajaros, which provides economic relief to low-income families and orphans; and Fundación Sueño y Creo, which donates educational supplies to low-income schools.

Venexodo was founded in 2018 by of a group of MDC students from Colombia, Guatemala and Venezuela. The name of the event was inspired by the massive exodus of Venezuelans fleeing the country in recent years.
