This year the event has scaled up to include 100 students college wide in collaboration with ICED. Students have committed to honoring the lives of the 9/11 victims and their families by serving their community and giving back. To this day, we have collectively served over 350 hours on and off campus. To continue with their commitment to environmental sustainability, this year our campus’ Inter Club Council members and Student Government Association will once again partner with the local non-profit, Clean Miami Beach, as well as Zoo Miami, Miami Dade Parks and Recreation and Debris Free Oceans to serve on a day-long coastal cleanup. Through this organized event, students will receive in-depth training on the negative impact of single-use plastics and other trash on the earth’s ecology, and will have the opportunity to participate in meaningful hands-on team-building events and data collection. The students will also be encouraged to complete their ICED Civic Action Score Card followed by a reflection piece on the significance of their service on this day.
