Audience: Full-Time Faculty

This workshop will focus on creating equitable learning opportunities for all students in response to the covid pandemic; it will have both an asynchronous and a live presentation element. The approach to equity will invite faculty to reexamine our language and practices to establish more equitable learning environments, including syllabi language and learning activities. Behind the equity concept stands the principle of meeting each student’s needs to support their learning, as far as possible. To that end, we also will examine concerns for student mental health and wellbeing, as well as the separate issue of providing reasonable accommodations for students with learning disabilities. The asynchronous elements of this workshop will be available in the LMS, beginning on July 21, 2021. The Synchronous presentation will take place on the afternoon of August 19, 2021, which is the date of the College wide Convocation.

Participants will be able to:

  • Broaden their awareness of how to help students access and utilize campus resources whether online or in person.
  • Apply an instructional model for equitable outcomes that pertains to online, blended, live-remote and in-person modalities.
  • Share their ideas to make their instructional frameworks more equitable.

Time: 5 Hours (FPD)

Mode:  Online – both asynchronous and synchronous.  Opens with asynchronous materials on July 21;  Live Webinar will be August 19, 2021.
