This 90-minute virtual workshop is for faculty from all disciplines and will equip them with the nonpartisan tools and strategies needed to help MDC students become ready to vote in the November 2024 General Election – including registering to vote and/or checking registration status, election deadlines, Vote by Mail directions, finding non-partisan information about candidates and ballot issues, making a plan to vote, and much more. The workshop will share activities to help students understand why their vote is important and will address barriers that prevent them from voting. The workshop will also introduce MDC’s election readiness website, the Unify America Challenge, and the democratic engagement section of the Civic Action Scorecard. Participants will also learn the many ways students who aren’t eligible to vote can still be involved. As a result of this workshop, faculty will create an easy-to-implement plan to help their students be election-ready.

  • The workshop will be offered multiple times via MS Teams
  • This workshop is for faculty, but also open to staff who want to help students be election-ready. Two hours of faculty FPD (pending approval from CIOL) can be earned by attending and completing the post-workshop assignment.
  • If you want to attend this workshop but aren't available to attend during Changemaker Week, email Josh Young at jyoung@mdc.edu for info on additional workshops
