To open Hispanic Heritage Month, Professor Guntin and Dr. Ahsan kick off with an interactive event designed to improve understanding of diversity and inclusion by gaining awareness of effective communication, practicing empathic listening, identifying microaggression, and developing a plan of action. Come learn and put yourself ahead of the curve, as these are essential skills in today’s job market!

Professor Jose Guntin teaches psychology at the Kendall Campus. After a successful career as a mental health counselor, he joined MDC full-time in 2010. In 2012, he obtained the Excellence Award from the League for Innovation in the Community College. In 2014, he obtained the Engaged Scholarship Faculty Award from Florida Campus Compact.

Dr. Rahnuma Ahsan is an associate professor of applied science at Miami Dade College. She joined MDC in 2013. She received the Faculty of the Year Award from the Greater Kendall Business Association and the Impact Award for Excellence in Teaching Entrepreneurship from the National Association for Community College Entrepreneurship (NACCE) in 2015. Her work was nominated for Florida College System Chancellor's Best Practice Award 2016-17.
