DESCRIPTION:Drs. Jessica Espinoza and Suzanne Cruz will highlight the accom
 plishments of Hispanic women in STEM and explore how their stories can be s
 hared with young learners in K–3 classrooms. Early childhood majors will le
 arn how to design culturally responsive activities that promote curiosity a
 nd confidence in STEM while honoring heritage. Examples will include incorp
 orating storytelling about pioneers such as Ellen Ochoa (astronaut)\, Sabri
 na Gonzalez Pasterski (physicist)\, and Dr. Antonia Novello (physician and 
 U.S. Surgeon General)\, alongside developmentally appropriate STEM activiti
 es like building simple rockets\, exploring patterns in science and math\, 
 or conducting hands-on health and wellness investigations. The session will
  emphasize strategies for promoting more girls’ engagement in STEM through 
 positive representation and inclusive classroom practices.
