Audience: Faculty

This workshop is divided into three parts. In the first part of the workshop, participating faculty will discuss strategies and best practices for identifying students who may need support and connecting those students to the resources and the people at the College who can support them. In the second part, faculty will learn how to use the Blackboard Retention Center and Grade Center to easily monitor student progress and identify at-risk individuals. In the third part of the workshop, faculty will learn how to use MDC Navigate (EAB) to connect students to their coordinated care network using MDC Navigate’s Progress Reports and Alerts functions.

After successful completion of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the early warning signs exhibited by students who may need additional supports
  • Identify the resources available to assist students with both academic and non-cognitive concerns
  • Implement strategies for identifying at-risk students
  • Connect students to the College resources and personnel who can assist them with various concerns
  • Configure the Blackboard Retention Center and Grade Center to monitor student progress in their courses and identify at-risk students
  • Log into MDC Navigate, find their way around the platform, and understand the dashboard
  • Participate in a Progress Report Campaign
  • Complete an ad-hoc Progress Report
  • Issue an ad-hoc Alert
  • Understand what happens when an instructor identifies a student as “at-risk” in Navigate
