Book was written by Eugenio Sanchez de Fuentes and was printed in Havana, Cuba on January 1, 1916; presented by Elizabeth De Zulueta.

This book aims to help the reader comprehend the complete and truthful history of the monuments, sculptures, and gravestones that existed and still exist within the whole national territory of Cuba. It is divided in four time periods: pre-Columbian, colonial, the intervening years, and the years of the republic. This is a very important book on the arts and Cuban society due the information and detailed chronological history which it provides.

This talk will introduce the style and importance of Cuban sculpture and monuments during these periods, focusing on the end of the colonial period and the Cuban War of Independence. We will discuss how the War of Independence affected the arts on the island, and how they then continued to develop and flourish during the first half of the 20th century."
