https://tinyurl.com/3su49myaMen make up just over half of the 18- to 24-year olds in America, but they’re vastly outnumbered in the nation’s colleges, representing just 40.5 percent of undergraduate students — an all time low. While men’s college-going rates are declining across all races and socioeconomic groups, some of the steepest drops have been among Black males. Nowhere is that more
pronounced than in public two-year colleges, where the number of Black male students plunged 21.5 percent in the spring of 2021.
Join us as we discuss this trend from the lens of accomplished Black Men in The Honors College. They will discuss challenges and threats to attaining a higher education and the strategies they developed to overcome them.
Don't miss these stories of grit, resilience, and ultimately, success.
Part I will feature Dr. Shane Johnson, Director of The Honors College at North Campus.
