In an era where artificial intelligence is reshaping education, it's essential to center our teaching on human connection, empathy, and clarity. This session invites educators—both seasoned and emerging—to explore assignment design through a compassionate, learner-centered lens. By integrating Mary-Ann Winkelmes’s Transparency in Learning and Teaching (TILT) framework with Dee Fink’s Taxonomy of Significant Learning, we will reimagine assignments that not only clarify purpose, tasks, and criteria but also nurture the human dimension and cultivate caring relationships in the classroom. Participants will engage in reflective activities and redesign an assignment that emphasizes the importance of transparency and care in an age where AI tools are prevalent, ensuring that our teaching remains deeply human and authentically connected.
