Since the chartering of Miami in 1896, its most famous attraction has been its beaches. However, for African Americans in Miami, segregation was reality. The only Miami beach African Americans could enjoy without being arrested- or worse- was Virginia Key Beach. Join us on a trip from our campus to the historic beach for a day-long enriching experience as we participate in a beach clean-up, guided tour, picnic, and- of course- swimming.
